Oban boasts a range of fantastic routes suitable for road and mountain bike cycling. The Caledonian Way, which is the National Route 78, running from Campbeltown to Inverness, cuts through this area. The stretch from Oban to Fort William, around 48 miles, benefits from being mainly flat as a lot of the route uses the old railway paths.

Oban has 2 main bike hire centres; one is Oban Cycles, offering a range of push and electric bikes.
The other is Adventure Rental which offer a range of self-guided tours and available on 07858 394360

Our Reviews

We really were thrilled with services and facilities, plus our hosts, Kirsty & Simon. A striking, freshly renovated mansion home overlooking the bay. Picturesque and peaceful, though just a couple minutes from town. Top notch furniture, decorations. Fantastic breakfast with good, varied choices. Very comfortable. Kirsty & Simon communicated well pre-stay, and were helpful and accommodating during our several days with them. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience staying here! Simon and Kirstie were just lovely. The room was beautiful with a great view, and the bathroom was outstanding! Best place we stayed at in Scotland, and we stayed in some nice places. Great location in Oban. Lovely views of Oban and Kerrera island. Great whiskey selection in the lounge.

This was a birthday trip for my wife and turned into such a wonderful weekend escape. The location, setting and building is superb, the tasteful, warm and stylish interior design made for a special stay. Our room was immaculate and the small personal touches made us feel at home and relaxed straight away. The common areas of the house are delightful, we spent our evenings relaxing in the welcoming and well stocked bar where we were superbly hosted by Simon who made us feel so welcome. Both Kirsty and Simon gave us such a genuine friendly yet professional service that left us no option but to return next year, helped by the promise of round of golf with Simon. Oh and for the record the breakfast was delightful.

We arrived as darkness was closing in and were warmly welcomed by Simon and Kirsty. This husband & wife team are made for hospitality - the perfect blend of relaxed and professional. Dungllan County House has recently undergone a serious renovation and the hotel is now outstanding. The decor is impeccable - publics spaces and bedrooms are luxurious and welcoming. We were lucky to stay in The Duke of Argyll suite with dual aspect to the islands of Mull and Kerrera as well as Oban and McCaigs Tower. The well stocked bar was perfect for a pre-dinner drink. Breakfast was delicious with an interesting selection of local food cooked to order. We saw guests enjoying afternoon tea - this looked beautifully presented......definitely on the cards for our next visit!
